John Edwards

John Edwards serves as Managing Director and Global Head of BrokerTec at CME Group. He is responsible for managing the development and execution of business on BrokerTec, the industry leading anonymous dealer-to-dealer electronic trading platform for the fixed income markets with venues operating in the United States, United Kingdom and Europe. BrokerTec facilitates trading solutions for many European and U.S. fixed income products including US Treasuries, European and US Repo and European Government Bonds. Edwards is also responsible for the strategic commercial plans and has overall responsibility for the management and regulatory compliance of the business. Edwards joined BrokerTec Europe in 2000 initially as Head of Sales and Product Development, instrumental in establishing the business as a market leader for electronic execution of European Repo and then as European managing director operating a Multilateral Trading Facility in the UK. Previously he held senior roles at Daiwa Securities, where he set up and established the London Emerging Markets trading desk for Latin American and Eastern European Debt. Prior to that, he worked at Morgan Grenfell (later Deutsche Bank) between 1990-97, where he mainly traded Emerging Market Cash and Repo products. Edwards has worked in the fixed income markets in London and New York for more than 30 years. He is closely involved in industry bodies and discussions to promote the financial stability and soundness of fixed income and repo markets.
